Ducks may be effective pest control, but should you use them in your garden?

Predators are a great way to manage insect pests, and although many people typically think of predators as other insects, sometimes they can be mammals or birds. This personal story, published on the Ecological Landscaping Association’s website, details the joys and trials of ELA’s Executive Director after she attempted what seemed to be an organic and effective way to control insects in her vegetable garden: raising ducks.

While using the ducks didn’t pay off for her as she had hoped, we should remember that often IPM is about experimenting with different methods of pest management until we find the one that works for us.
