Cooperative Agriculture Pest Survey (CAPS) 2016 Surveys

The CAPS program continues to be centered on the ‘bundled survey’ concept for efficiency and economy of survey. Priority Surveys are those survey initiatives that have been identified by the National CAPS Committee as being of high priority to merit a priority survey effort (See Priority Pest List – Economic and Environmental). Priority surveys for 2016 include: 1. Nursery and Retail, 2. Cotton, 3. Exotic Wood Borer/Bark Beetle and 4. Small Grains.

Proposals MUST be submitted using the attached Survey Work Plan Template and Detailed Survey Financial Plan Template.  The CAPS proposals are based on each state’s needs, following the Pest Detection Guidelines.  Pest Surveillance Guidelines for the Commodity Surveys are available upon request, or can be reviewed at 2016 National Pest Surveillance Guidelines (you do not need a user name and password to review the guidelines).  Proposals must be submitted to me by mail at P.O. Box 12847, Austin, TX 78711, via fax (888) 512-5384, or by email to Allison.Olofson@TexasAgriculture.gov,  with a copy to Awinash.Bhatkar@TexasAgriculture.gov  no later than July 15, 2015, in order to be included for review by the State CAPS Committee. Contact Allison Olofson or Awinash Bhatkar for more information.
