Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Regulated Area Expands to Include Entire State of North Carolina

Effective immediately, the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is adding all of North Carolina to the list of regulated areas for the emerald ash borer (EAB). APHIS is taking this action at North Carolina’s request in response to the detections of EAB in multiple counties throughout North Carolina.

To prevent the spread of EAB to other states, the attached Federal Order outlines specific conditions for the interstate movement of EAB-regulated articles from the quarantined areas in North Carolina. Specifically, the interstate movement of EAB-host wood and wood products from the quarantined areas in North Carolina is regulated, including firewood of all hardwood species, nursery stock, green lumber, waste, compost, and chips of ash species. Emerging Opportunities for Organic Grain Production and Marketing in South Carolina

An informative seminar and networking opportunity for producers and buyers.

This workshop will introduce participants to market opportunities for organic grain production in the southeast and current knowledge about production practices for organic grains and inherent challenges.  The focus will be on opportunities for organic grains to supply animal feed markets, but information on specialty food grains will be included. An outstanding group of experts have been invited to share their experiences in organic grain production, research, organic certification, and marketing.
