IR-4 Southern Region priority setting conference call June 8 at 10 AM

Below is a link to the list of “potential nominated projects” from the IR-4 national database. The list is organized according to crop group, so although it is a seemingly large document (147 pages) you should be able to quickly thumb through to the commodities that you are most interested in. Within each crop group/sub group, the requests are clustered according to the class of pesticide so for example, all herbicides for lettuce will appear together, as will all insecticides and fungicides. Please spend some time going through the list ahead of our initial priority setting call on Wednesday June 8th at 10am. The list was printed 5/17/16, please note that the status of some projects are currently being evaluated and may change depending on the outcome of IR-4’s registration visits to the various manufactures. Any project clearance request “PCR” submitted post 5/17/16 will be considered at our final priority setting call in August, date TBD.All Potential Projects as of 5_17_16

IR-4 SOR Priority Setting Procedure 2014

For those that are new to IR-4 and not as familiar with their process, read the attached pdf that explains the general process.

During the SR priority setting conference call, stakeholders will have an opportunity to nominate a project according to the significance level that they see as pertinent. We will use the following guidelines:

  • Southern Region A: Urgent request; need to begin process in next field season.
  • Southern Region B: Strong need, but not urgent (can hold off for another year).
  • Southern Region C: Documented need, but don’t have all the information necessary to move forward at this time.

It should be noted that in order for a project to receive either an A or B rating, efficacy and/ crop safety data generally needs to be available. Please be prepared to fully justify any A ratings (reason why this is important to your growers/state) and also the IPM compatibility of any A nominations will also be needed. You will also have the opportunity to add your state as a requesting state for any PCR that is already on file. To do this, you enter the PCR number in the IR-4database under “Simple Search” of “IR-4 Food Crops Database.” When the PCR comes up, you click where it says “Submit me-too” request.

If, as you make your way through the list, you have questions or need help, please don’t hesitate to contact Michelle Samuel Foo via email, phone or text: 706-614-5754 is her cell phone and her office is 352-294-3991.

Submitting a new request:

New PCRs should be submitted online here: http://ir4.rutgers.edu/FoodUse/FOODRequestForm.cfm

IR-4 would really like to have these in as soon as possible so that they can be reviewed by all the relevant parties, particularly registrants well ahead of the national IR-4 Food Use Workshop (FUW). The deadline to submit PCRs for consideration in the 2016 FUW is Aug 31, 2016.
