Crop Protection and Pest Management RFA has been released

The National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) is pleased to announce the release of the FY 2018 Crop Protection and Pest Management Program (CPPM) Request for Applications (RFA). NIFA is requesting applications for the Applied Research and Development Program (ARDP) and the Regional Coordination Program (RCP) areas of the CPPM program in this solicitation.

Regarding FY 2017 CPPM Extension Implementation Program (EIP) area grants, NIFA will request continuation applications for the CPPM EIP with directed RFAs to the respective institutions. Continue reading

Graduate Student Award Winner Finds Bug Bombs Don’t Live up to Claims

Setting off a bug bomb may seem like an easy solution to a roach infestation, but research at NC State University shows that it may actually harm the homeowner more than the roaches.

Zachary DeVries, who recently began a postdoc appointment at NC State University, examined the effectiveness of total release foggers for cockroaches for his doctoral dissertation. He is this year’s recipient of a IPM Symposium Graduate Student award and a Friends of Southern IPM Graduate Student award in the Ph.D. category. Continue reading
