South Korea consults with Texas A&M on fire ants

South Korea has asked Texas A&M University for help in stopping an alien pest new to their country, but all too familiar to most Texans, officials said.

“The red imported fire ant has invaded Asia over the last few years, but the South Korean invasion is brand new,” said Dr. David Ragsdale, Texas A&M entomology department head at College Station. Continue reading

This week is National Pollinator Week!

Eleven years ago the U.S. Senate’s unanimous approval and designation of a week in June as “National Pollinator Week” marked a necessary step toward addressing the urgent issue of declining pollinator populations. Pollinator Week has now grown into an international celebration of the valuable ecosystem services provided by bees, birds, butterflies, bats and beetles.
