Duties: The Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, Purdue University, announces an academic year, tenure- track assistant professor position in Landscape Architecture. Candidates should demonstrate a clear potential to excel in an academic environment through excellence in research and peer-reviewed publication of scholarship leading to the development of new disciplinary knowledge. Undergraduate teaching is a primary responsibility of this position, and the successful candidate will be expected to establish a program of engaging classroom and studio-based teaching, student advising, and service. While all candidates must possess a broad set of skills applicable to a comprehensive education in landscape architecture, this position seeks expertise in landscape performance, focused on landscape ecology and ecological factors. Candidate’s ability to strengthen existing expertise in landscape plants and contribute to the teaching of plant materials as primary elements of design is highly desired. Collaborative approaches to scholarship at regional, national and international levels will be strongly encouraged.

The Landscape Architecture Program at Purdue University is a nationally ranked five-year professionally accredited undergraduate program leading to a B.S.L.A. degree. Qualifications: A terminal graduate degree in the candidate’s primary field of expertise is required. At least one degree held by the candidate must be in landscape architecture. A Ph.D. in landscape architecture or a related field is desirable as is a notable record of professional and/or scholarly accomplishments. The successful candidate should have a willingness to work with diverse groups.
