USDA Invests in Integrated Pest Management for Increased Production

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) today announced grants to bring safer, more effective pest management approaches to farms and communities.

“Insects, weeds, and diseases are ever-evolving challenges for U.S. agriculture,” said NIFA Director Sonny Ramaswamy. “NIFA is making investments to develop sound scientific approaches to increase production and provide continued food security in the face of these threats.”  Continue reading

RFA for Applied Research and Development Program (ARDP) has been released

The National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) is pleased to announce the release of the Crop Protection and Pest Management Program (CPPM) Request for Applications (RFA). NIFA is requesting applications only for the Applied Research and Development Program (ARDP) area of the CPPM program in this solicitation. NIFA has requested continuation applications for the CPPM Extension Implementation Program and the Regional Coordination Program in separate RFAs. ARDP funds projects that develop new IPM tactics, technologies, practices, and strategies. For programmatic questions, please contact Dr. Herbert Bolton (hbolton@nifa.usda.gov or (202) 401-4201).

NIFA Awards $16 Million in Grants to Address Integrated Pest Management

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) today announced more than $16 million in grants to support research and extension activities addressing critical integrated pest management (IPM) needs. The new resources will protect crops and livestock, ensure greater food security and effectively respond to other major societal challenges.
