EPA to Host June 21, 2018, Webinar on Strategy to Ensure Effectiveness of Hospital Disinfectants

The Environmental Protection Agency will host a listening session via webinar to seek stakeholders’ input on the development of a risk-based product testing strategy to ensure continued effectiveness of hospital disinfectant products. The listening session is part of the Agency’s response to EPA’s Office of Inspector General’s recommendations on this issue.

Final OCSPP Product Performance Test Guidelines for Antimicrobial Pesticides Series 810.2000-2200

EPA announces the availability of final test guidelines for “Series 810 – Product Performance Test Guidelines: Group B – Antimicrobial Efficacy Test Guidelines,” which provide recommendations for the design and execution of laboratory studies to evaluate the effectiveness of antimicrobial pesticides that work against public health microbial pests.

EPA Announces Updated Guidance for Antimicrobial Pesticide Products Intended to Combat Emerging Pathogens

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has updated the emerging pathogens guidance for the claims that can be made for EPA-registered disinfectant products intended to combat emerging viral pathogens. This document provides general guidance on a viral hierarchy that can be used to identify effective disinfectant products for use against emerging pathogens and permit registrants to make limited claims of their product’s efficacy against such pathogens. The revisions to the guidance are intended to expedite the process for registrants to provide useful information to the public on effective products. Continue reading
