Spring Landscape Irrigation Short Courses offered in Texas

A series of landscape irrigation short courses for licensed irrigation professionals will be held February through May with stops in College Station, Houston, Austin, Dallas and San Antonio.

Licensed landscape irrigators are required to have 24 hours of continued education every three years to renew their licenses, while licensed irrigation technicians need 16 hours every two years, said Charles Swanson, short course instructor and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service program specialist in College Station. Coastal Bend Landscape Conference set Feb. 23 in Corpus Christi, TX

Springtime is approaching quickly, and a meeting has been set up to help landscape and garden professionals and enthusiasts learn some helpful tips and techniques, a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service official said.

The Coastal Bend Landscape Conference will be 8 a.m.-2:45 p.m., Feb. 23 at the Del Mar Development Center, 3209 S. Staples, Corpus Christi. Registration is $40, and includes breakfast and lunch. Reservations must be made by calling 361-767-5217 by Feb. 10. Continue reading

New course on landscape IPM offered at the University of Florida

Starting May 2013, take your first steps toward getting a certificate or becoming LMA certified! A new three credit course will be offered starting May 2013 at the University of Florida (UF). The course is called “Landscape IPM: Ornamentals and Turf” and is course number IPM 4254. This course will be offered for UF credit and will be available for students that are enrolled at UF or for people outside UF that are interested in the material. UF will offer the course this summer (2013) and it will be available 100% online. You must have computer and Internet access to take this class. This course is for UF juniors and seniors and landscape and pest management supervisors and owners.
