NEHA is accepting abstracts for second Enhancing Environmental Health Knowledge (EEK): Vectors and Public Health Pests Virtual Conference

The National Environmental Health Association is now accepting submissions for abstracts to present at its second Enhancing Environmental Health Knowledge (EEK): Vectors and Public Health Pests Virtual Conference on May 15 – 16, 2018.

The EEK Virtual Conference is designed to enhance the knowledge of environmental health professionals to help them respond to events of public health concern, as well as bring professionals from multiple sectors together to exchange information and discover new solutions to issues in vectors and public health pests.

The conference will take place May 15-16 and abstracts are due March 21st, 2018. All presentations will be pre-recorded and there is no cost to participate or attend. EPA Awards $500,000 to Help Reduce Children’s Exposure to Pesticides

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced two grants to help reduce students’, teachers’ and staffs’ exposure to pests and pesticides in our nation’s schools, while saving money, energy and pesticide treatment costs.

“Children are among the most vulnerable members of our society, and EPA is working to protect them from needless threats,” said Jim Jones, assistant administrator for the office of chemical safety and pollution prevention. “Our goal is to have schools across the nation implement sustainable pest management practices to provide a healthier learning environment for our students and teachers.” Continue reading

EEK: Vectors and Public Health Pests Virtual Conference

This conference is designed to enhance the knowledge of environmental health professionals in order to help them better prepare to respond to environmental events of public health concern as well as to bring professionals together in a unique virtual environment to exchange information and discover new solutions to issues in vectors and public health pests.

EEK: Vectors and Public Health Pests Virtual Conference is funded through a partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Environmental Health. The conference is sponsored by the National Environmental Health Association.
