EPA Announces Federal Register Notice Regarding the Availability of Worker Protection Training Materials

The Environmental Protection Agency is notifying the public that the Agency intends to publish in the Federal Register a notice stating the pesticide safety training materials with the expanded content required by the 2015 FIFRA Worker Protection Standard (WPS) are available for use. The notice of availability will be published in docket EPA-HQ-OPP-2011-0184 on www.regulations.gov.

The training materials with expanded content have been available at the Pesticide Education Resources Collaborative (PERC) and were developed through an EPA cooperative agreement. EPA also approved training materials developed by other organizations, some of which are available on PERC’s website. Updated training materials must be used 180 days after the publication of the notice in the Federal Register. Continue reading

Protect Yourself from Pesticides poster available

On June 30th the Pesticide Educational Resources Collaborative (PERC) launched its next resource, “Protect Yourself from Pesticides”, a poster satisfying the display requirements of the revised 2015 Worker Protection Standard (§170.311).

Pesticide safety manual available

The Pesticide Educational Resources Collaborative (PERC) in conjunction with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is delighted to share the highly anticipated resource, “National Worker Protection Standard: A Manual for Trainers of Agricultural Workers and Pesticide Handlers.” Changes to the standard in 2015 have made the previous manual obsolete. This updated manual is written in English and PERC plans to release a Spanish version in spring 2017.

EPA Guidance on How to Comply with the Revised Worker Protection Standard for Agricultural Pesticides

Today, EPA in conjunction with the Pesticide Educational Resources Collaborative (PERC) is making available a guide to help users of agricultural pesticides comply with the requirements of the 2015 revised federal Worker Protection Standard. You should read this manual if you employ agricultural workers or handlers, are involved in the production of agricultural plants as an owner/manager of an agricultural establishment or a commercial (for-hire) pesticide handling establishment, or work as a crop advisor.
